Frequently Asked Questions, Disclaimers and Disclosures

What do you charge?

An initial consultation will ordinarily be at no cost to you.

Once we have decided to work together, different kinds of legal matters  call for different fee arrangements. For example, estate planning engagements can often be undertaken on a fixed fee basis; after consulting with Larry and receiving his recommendations, your choices will enable Larry to determine with your assent a fixed amount to be paid for the entire project.

Other projects will be undertaken on a time basis, where all time spent on your matter is tracked electronically, and billed at Larry’s usual hourly rates monthly or on some other periodic basis. Fees are a sensitive subject for many, and Larry will be happy to go over the terms of the engagement letter and his fees to your satisfaction. Given the nature of Larry’s practice, contingency fee arrangements are not available.

Do I have to come to Seattle to meet?

Not necessarily. Business clients often find it convenient to host our conferences at their place of business. While excellent meeting spaces are available at both the main Seattle office and at a satellite office in Bellevue’s Eastgate area, Larry conducts much of his work with clients via email and telephone.
